What is the litter Patrol?

Blackburn with Darwen Council are committed to reducing the litter issue in the country and tackling it at source by educating everyone not to drop litter. Most primary school grounds don’t have a big litter problem, but we believe that by educating children during this stage in their lives, the issues in the future will be reduced.

Organising a litter patrol is a great way to show that your school cares about your local environment, whilst actively encouraging people not to drop litter and take pride in where they live.

Blackburn with Darwen Council alongside Captain Muck and Captain Litter can help you with your litter patrol by lending you the necessary litter picking equipment. This includes litter pickers, bags, gloves and also to arrange for the collected litter to be removed.

What are our goals For the Patrol?

Our main goals are to reduce litter and raise awareness of the effects of litter on the local environment and the wider community with our overall aim to keep our borough a clean and tidy place to live.

Littered areas attract more litter, with people more likely to drop litter somewhere that already has a problem. As well as not looking very nice, litter affects both our health and the environment.

This is where we need your help! We need as many voices as we can to pass on the message that littering is not the right thing to do.
